Colorful Burano

Burano

This winter seems never ending (like every year). I am so excited about upcoming spring! To see how everything will turn green again, blooming trees and colorful flowers. By word colorful my mind goes back to the last spring when we visited north of Italy. We stayed by relatives of my boyfriend in beautiful little town Rovigo, which is about one hour car ride from famous Venice. I can recommend you there the best homemade ice cream of unusual flavors – Gelateria Godot. It was so amazing, they gave us to try all the flavors and wow…you could not just choose the one 🙂

Rovigo was a great starting point of our everyday trips. We visited Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Venice. But this article will be about magical Burano island.

Actually I never heard about this place until I saw some random photo of Burano on Instagram. I immediately knew that we have to include visit of this little insland to our itinerary of one day in Venice. Burano is often rated among the top 10 most colorful places in the world. Interesting fact: if the owner of the house decides to change the color of the facade, he must send a request to some special committee and they will provide a list of permitted colors.

You can get easily to Burano from Venice by boat (stop Fondamente Nove), the ride takes about 45 minutes and it costs 6,50 Eur per person. To enjoy slow walk around this little island you will need approximately 2 hours. When you are photo enthusiast like me you will stop a LOT. If you are planning to stop in one of the local restaurant I recommend you to make more time for the visit of Burano.

How do you like this place? Do you know any other colorful places?
